For Our Town
At House we have a number of projects running under the Compassion Ministry that aim to serve our community when they are in need, to provide emergency assistance, advice and support.
Newtownards Foodbank
Our foodbank is part of the Trussell network and provides food parcels through a referral system to those in food poverty. Linking with over 70 agencies who supply vouchers that can be exchanged for a 3-5 day emergency food parcel at a foodbank session. We help to signpost our clients to other streams of help as well as supplying toiletries, pet food and other items. Donations of food are received from churches, community groups, schools, local supermarkets and individuals in the borough.
Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
As a church we have representation on the steering committee for the local Ards Area CAP debt centre, helping families become free from debt. We also run regular CAP Life Skills courses to teach basic skills giving people more financial freedom and a Money Coaching course teaching detailed budgeting to allow people to manage their money more wisely and efficiently.
Other
We also have representation on some council-led groups including the local Poverty Forum and 3rd Sector Hub as well as a local Churches Response group.
